NEW YORK (PIX11) — It is going to be a raw and rainy weekend.
A developing area of low pressure will move through the region, bringing in rainy and chilly conditions. While the timing is not ideal and will spoil the weekend, it is something the tri-state region needs.

April has been a dry month with total rainfall amounts running 4.73” below normal. While the rain that comes in on Saturday will not erase the deficit, it will make a big dent.
Clouds will thicken Friday night as the storm system approaches. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s.
Rain will develop on Saturday, and it may come down at a steady pace, especially toward the afternoon and into the evening. Rainfall totals could be above an inch, and ponding on area roadways is to be expected.
In addition to the rain, it will be a very chilly day. Temperatures may not even reach 50 degrees during the day.
It may be cold enough, well north in the Catskills, that the rain could change over to a wintry mix.
The rain will continue into Sunday, but before it tapers off late in the afternoon. It will remain chilly, though, as temperatures will only be in the lower 40s
Temperatures will moderate early next week back into the lower 60s, with rain possible by Wednesday.
