On this week’s “In Focus,” NY1’s Cheryl Wills talks to Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness about the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
He says that even with a disaster fund in place, the storm caused significant damage and disruption to the country’s GDP, but that recovery is progressing steadily, with schools, hospitals and utilities almost completely restored.
Holness adds that work remains to restore homes and roofs, and to redevelop the island’s aging infrastructure overall.
