SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A De Queen police officer, Ty Phillips, has been fired and is currently in custody on an anticipated felony charge of sexual assault in the third degree.
A woman was booked into the Sevier County Jail and Detention Center on Friday, April 24 on an unrelated criminal charge.
During the booking process, she disclosed an alleged sexual assault involving a City of De Queen police officer that reportedly happened on March 26.
This prompted an investigation and resulted in the immediate termination of Ty Phillips by Chief of Police Scott Simmons following his arrest on Saturday morning, April 25.
Phillips is currently being held by a neighboring law enforcement agency and is expected to appear before Circuit Judge Bryan Chesshir in Pike County Circuit Court for a first appearance on Monday, April 27.
No bond has been set.
