DE QUEEN, Ark. – A police officer was fired after being arrested for sexual assault, according to the De Queen Police Department.
On Friday, a woman was booked into the Sevier County Jail and Detention Center on an unrelated charge. During the booking process, she told officers about a sexual assault involving a De Queen police officer that happened last month.
A criminal investigation was launched by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and officials arrested Ty Phillips Saturday morning. He was fired by Chief of Police Scott Simmons following his arrest.
Phillips is being held without bail as he awaits his court appearance. He is facing a felony charge of sexual assault in the third degree.
