Numerous Queens residents gathered along Steinway Street in Astoria to enjoy Japan Fes, the world’s largest Japanese street food festival, on Sunday, April 26.
Over 30 vendors representing cafes and restaurants in New York City were on hand to serve refreshing boba tea, mouth-watering grilled skewers, handmade onigiri and more.

The street food festival on Steinway Street featured several vendors connected to Queens, including Menya Jiro, which specializes in fresh ramen noodles, Soofley, known for their airy and fluffy freshly made gluten free souffle pancakes, Ming Xing BBQ, a Flushing-based Chinese BBQ restaurant that has popular dishes like lamb and beef skewers, Cozy Tea Loft, which has sweets like milk tea and Spot Dessert Bar’s Asian-inspired desserts, including seasonal specials and bubble tea.

In addition to food, some vendors at Japan Fes sold traditional folk art, apparel and anime-themed merchandise.

Japan Fes, which kicked off its tenth year on March 28 in East Village, has more than 30 dates set across different parts of the city, including returns to Queens on June 28 and Oct. 10.
