A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 74-year-old Long Island woman who was sitting on her own couch after allegedly breaking into her apartment last week, Suffolk County police say.
Jawarren Booker was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree burglary in the Friday morning attack in Holbrook, which happened between 6:15 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., according to police.
Officials say the suspect got in through a window and confronted the woman sitting on the couch. He fled after the attack, and she called 911. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Booker had an attorney.
Additional information is expected to be released at a press conference later Wednesday.
