CENTRAL PARK, New York (WABC) — Final preparations are in full swing ahead of Sunday’s TCS New York City Marathon and one of the most iconic features of the race was put in place.
The New York Road Runners organization held its annual ceremonial painting of the blue line in Central Park on Wednesday morning.
That line marks the end of the 26.2-mile course in Central Park that runs through the five boroughs.
This year more than 50,000 runners from roughly 160 countries will check a dream off their bucket list. Athletes of all ages will make their way along the course.
The official start to race weekend happens Friday with opening ceremonies featuring the Parade of Nations, which is a showcase of runners from across the globe.
Seating will be available for spectators at the finish line, which is located at 67th Street on West Drive.
We’ll have live coverage on Eyewitness News and stream that ceremony live on ABC7NY.
