A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a 7 train at the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue subway station in Jackson Heights on Tuesday, April 28, in an apparent suicide.

The man jumped in front of a Manhattan-bound subway at 12:25 p.m., and the train operator was unable to stop in time before striking the individual, who was not a victim of a crime, an NYPD spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Police from the 115th Precinct and Transit District 20 responded to the location and had power shut down so first responders could remove the man from the track bed.

EMS pronounced him dead at the scene, and his identity is pending proper family notification. Service resumed within an hour. The investigation remains ongoing.
