In the race for mayor of New York City, polling has consistently shown Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani holding a substantial lead over former governor and independent candidate Andrew Cuomo. Aggregated data from RealClearPolitics place Mamdani at approximately 46.3 percent and Cuomo at about 30.7 percent, yielding a roughly 15-point advantage for Mamdani in a three-way contest.

Mamdani’s momentum is powered by strong support from younger and progressive voters and a campaign built around housing affordability and public-safety reform. Meanwhile, Cuomo has gained some ground following the exit of incumbent Eric Adams from the race but remains well behind in the multi-candidate field.

With early voting underway and election day looming, the question now is whether Cuomo can mount a serious comeback or if Mamdani’s lead will hold firm. How turnout, candidate messaging and voter demographics play out will determine whether this lead translates into Election Day victory.
