Legislation would ban equipping NYPD robots with weapons

A bill introduced in the City Council would ban the NYPD from using armed robots as a tool for policing.

If passed, the bill would prevent the NYPD from deploying robots with weapons and prohibit the use of robots in ways that cause physical injury.

Brooklyn and Queens Council member Jennifer Gutiérrez is the bill’s lead sponsor. She joined Stephanie Simon to discuss her legislation.
