Ford has issued a safety recall for several popular models due to a risk of exterior parts detaching while driving.

Around 174,850 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that clips for the moonroof’s wind deflector aren’t adequately attached to the frame of the vehicle. Because of this, the wind deflector may detach from the vehicle.

The recall affects a mix of pickup and SUV models recently sold across both the Ford and Lincoln brands, including:

Owners will be contacted by Ford to bring their vehicle into a dealership. There, dealers will inspect and repair the moonroof wind deflector free of charge.

The manufacturer will begin contacting vehicle owners by mail on Nov. 3.

Ford owners can also call the company’s customer service line at (866) 436-7332 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 to see if they are affected by the recall.

Ford has issued several other major recalls so far in 2025.

In August, the company recalled approximately 21,700 SUVs and sedans because of failing lights and turn signals.

During May, Ford recalled over 273,000 SUVs because of brake line issues that could cause a fluid leak.

At the beginning of April, over 33,000 SUVs were recalled over fuel leak issues that increased the risk of an engine fire.
