NEW YORK (PIX11) — New video of an immigration enforcement shows the moments that lead to a protest outside a Brooklyn hospital on Saturday evening.
The incident unfolded after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained an undocumented man from Nigeria. Dramatic video shows agents pulling him from his car as he screams, leading to him requiring medical assistance.
ICE officials said agents were forced to “use the minimum amount of force” after the man allegedly refused repeated orders to exit the vehicle.
After he was injured, federal agents took him to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for evaluation. DHS said medical staff cleared him, and agents then removed him from the hospital.
The incident sparked a large community response, with a crowd gathering in support of the man, resulting in nine arrests, according to the NYPD.
Community leaders, elected officials and neighbors are expected to hold an emergency news conference following the incident at Wyckoff Hospital in Bushwick.
