NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Four legendary R&B singers make up the Queens Tour, and they’re headed to New Orleans.
Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Stephanie Mills and Chaka Khan are kicking off Mother’s Day weekend and the third leg of their award-winning tour at the Smoothie King Center on Thursday, May 7.

Several of the performers spoke with WGNO’s LBJ about what fans can expect at the concert.
The legends will all have their allotted time to perform hit classics, including “I Feel for You,” “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Never Knew Love Like This Before” and “Lady Marmalade,” which was recorded in New Orleans with the late Allen Toussaint.

“I remember getting the song. The guy who wrote the song, had us come to his house before we went to New Orleans to do the album, and said I have a hit. When we got there, I said to Allen Toussaint, ‘We have to record this first.’ I had no idea it was about hookers,” said Labelle.
