Border czar Homan warns ICE will “flood” NY if state approves measure

  • May 6, 2026

ALBANY, New York (WWNY) – Border czar Tom Homan says there will be a surge of ICE agents in New York if the state passes the Local Cops, Local Crimes Act.

“What’s going to happen with places like New York and people pass this ridiculous legislation not to work with us, we’re going to flood the zone,” Homan said during a speech Tuesday. “You’re going to see more ICE agents than you’ve ever seen before. So, congratulations.”

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul introduced the Local Cops, Local Crimes legislation in January. The measure would limit partnerships between local police departments and Immigration and Customs Enforcement under the 287(g) program.

“You’re gonna see collateral arrests increase in these areas. You’ll see more agents in your neighborhood,” Homan said.

Hochul fired back on Tuesday.

“All I’ll say to Mr. Homan is that Donald Trump himself said he would not send a surge of ICE agents to the state of New York unless I ask,” she said. “I’m not asking.”

Hochul also said the state will continue working with ICE in cases of dangerous criminals.
