New York – Primark, the value-oriented fashion and home goods retailer, is throwing a party for the May 8 opening of its new Herald Square flagship store in Manhattan.

Located at 150 W. 34th St., the more than 54,000-sq.-ft. store also sits directly across from Penn Station to capture high commuter and tourist traffic. The store will stand alongside the brand’s flagship stores in other fashion capitals such as London, Milan, Madrid, and Rome. This marks Primark‘s 11th store in the state of New York and 40th in the U.S.

“This is our biggest U.S. opportunity yet, and we can’t wait to open our doors,” said Kevin Tulip, president of Primark U.S. “The excitement and buzz around the brand is already building across Manhattan – from busy stores in the surrounding boroughs to lines stretching blocks at our pop-up Primark Studio in NoHo, we’re expecting strong demand from New Yorkers and tourists for the store.”

Shortly after the store opens at 10 a.m., Primark will kick off a block party on Herald Square Plaza that runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The schedule of events includes:

All Day: Photo opps, DJ Luna Rósa, lattes and pup cups from Joe’s Coffee, promotional giveaways and pedi-cabs rides
10:30 a.m. to 12:30  p.m.: Primark-inspired bagels from Liberty Bagels
12:30-2:30 p.m.: Classic NY carbs from Sigmund’s Pretzels
2:30 p.m.: Irish dance performance (and instruction) by Fusion Fighters, who combine Irish step and hip-hop
2:30-4:30 p.m.: NYC Kettle Corn

The event is free and open to the public.

Since opening its first U.S. store at Downtown Crossing in Boston in 2015, Primark has opened 39 stores across 13 states, including most recently in Miami, Florida; and Grapevine, Hurst and Katy, Texas; and in Gurnee, Ill.
