ALBANY, N.Y. — Nurses across New York are being recognized for their dedication and expertise during National Nurses Week.

The New York State Department of Health announced the celebration, which runs from May 6 to May 12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has also issued a proclamation declaring May as Nurses Month in the State of New York.

According to the Dept. of Health, there are more than 493,800 registered professional nurses in the State, along with more than 65,800 licensed practical nurses and more than 50,900 licensed nurse practitioners.
