Introducing New York Perks, a lineup of monthly treats exclusively for our subscribers. Whether it’s a free pastry, access to an event, or a drink on us, each perk is hand-selected by the discerning, particular, and obsessive staff of New York.
We’re pleased to launch the program — for now, available only in New York City — with La Cabra, a café and bakery born in Denmark. New York subscribers will get a free coffee and cardamom bun during the month of May, redeemable at all three of La Cabra’s New York locations in Soho, the East Village, and Bushwick.
“We’re thrilled to partner with New York Magazine on this new program,” said Cyril Alcazar, La Cabra’s managing director. “At La Cabra, we’ve always been driven by a desire to create thoughtful, high-quality experiences around coffee, food, and hospitality. This collaboration felt like a natural fit because of our shared focus on craft, culture, and storytelling.”
These perks build on New York’s long-standing commitment to providing New York City–based readers with its best-in-class, authoritative service journalism — telling them where to go and what to do in this city, week in and week out. The magazine launched a private event series hosted by our editors, beginning with “Jerry Saltz’s ’90s Art World” and “Brooding: Parents Night Out,” hosted by Kathryn Jezer-Morton. Subscribers now have access to the newly relaunched “Classifieds” section, where local readers can sell items to one another, with listings curated by our editorial team. And then there’s the subscriber-only New York Night School course How to Be a New Yorker, featuring highly insider-y and expert-sourced tips for navigating the city.
“We are continuously thinking how to make a New York Magazine subscription even more enticing,” said Priyanka Arya, SVP, head of consumer revenue at Vox Media. “These perks are a fun way to say thank you to our loyal subscribers and bring them new ways to enjoy the city.”
