The New York Blood Center (NYBC) recognized the Amazin’ Mets Foundation for providing a $150,000 grant towards the newly opened Queens Donor Center on Thursday, April 30.
The Amazin’ Mets Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the New York Mets led by team co-owner Alex Cohen, awarded the grant to NYBC in 2024. The $150,000 was used to enhance donor equipment needed to collect red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
NYBC held the special acknowledgment of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation at the Queens Donor Center, which opened in late 2025 at 107-10 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills. Members of NYBC leadership and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation unveiled an honorary plaque there that represented the Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s contribution.
“NYBC is grateful to the Amazin’ Mets Foundation for its support of the New York Blood Center,” NYBC Vice President of Blood Operations Jeannie Mascolino said. “The Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s generous grant to the Queens Donor Center has already made a lifesaving impact across the community, allowing us to strengthen the region’s blood supply levels and serve our diverse community of patients and hospitals.”
Upon its opening at the end of 2025, the Queens Donor Center marked the sixth NYBC donor center in New York City. NYBC aims to make blood donation more convenient for Queens residents and to strengthen the local blood supply for hospitals across the region through the establishment of this permanent, welcoming, community-centered location.
