The New York City Police Department (NYPD) enlisted the help of the public after a Bronx man’s $5,000 wheelchair was stolen from his building’s lobby in the early hours of April 21.
The NYPD released this footage and said it was asking for help identifying the individual riding the wheelchair out of the lobby at 888 Grand Concourse.
“The individual then fled the location on the wheelchair, traveling in an unknown direction. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident,” NYPD said.

According to local news outlet WABC, the owner of the wheelchair is a 59-year-old named Steven, who needs a hip replacement and wears a colostomy bag. Steven told WABC that without his wheelchair, even basic tasks become overwhelming.
