Although Victoria Beckham has previously kept her feelings vague on her feud with estranged son, Brooklyn Beckham, she did appear to address the 27-year-old’s claim that he was “controlled” by her and her husband, David Beckham. And this time, she is not being subtle about it at all.
The former Spice Girl appeared on a May 5 episode of the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, where she opened up about parenting, seemingly alluding to the ongoing rift with Brooklyn. “I think that it’s very different parenting adult children to parenting smaller children,” Victoria said. “I’m just trying to do the best that I can.”

And despite what anyone has said, Victoria claims that her and David don’t pressure their kids, including sons Brooklyn, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, and daughter Harper, 14. “We don’t put any pressure on our kids, we just want them to do what they love and to work hard and to be happy.” She later added, “Being very close is really, really important to us,” which hints at how hard her and David are taking their fight with Brooklyn.

Victoria also noted that she supports her son, Cruz’s, new music venture, adding, “It’s never about being pushy or forcing. It’s being there to support.”
These statements are a direct contradiction to the way Brooklyn claimed his parents treated him in a January 19 Instagram story. He wrote in part, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
He claimed that his parents “controlled narratives” about him and the whole Brooklyn family for his “entire life,” adding, “The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.” Later, he clapped back at speculation that his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, was controlling. “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,” he said. “I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. … [Now] I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.”
Back in March, both Victoria and David wished their eldest son a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much ❤️,” Victoria wrote in her post. David said, “27 Today 🥹 Happy Birthday Bust 🤍 We love you x.”
It does seem like they are trying to make amends (at least publicly), but so far, Brooklyn has not responded to their comments.
