LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A New York man is facing felony charges after stealing another man’s identity and attempting to withdraw $8,000, according to Manheim Township Police.
Daniel McKeithan, 53 of New York, has been charged with forgery and identity theft following a fraud incident on Oct. 16.
Police say that officers were called to a First National Bank on 1416 Lititz Park on reports of an active incident.
The bank teller indicated that a man was pretending to be a customer in order to withdraw $8,000 from an account. The caller also stated that McKeithan requested to have the account address changed.
When the teller asked for McKeithan’s identification, he allegedly provided a fake Delaware ID and again claimed to be the customer he was impersonating, according to police.
Once on scene, officials located and identified McKeithan as the suspect and brought him into custody.
McKeithan has been released on $15,000 bail and awaits an Oct. 29 preliminary hearing.
