BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK – BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK’S annual Kite Festival returns next Saturday – the only day of the year kites are allowed at the park. Bring kites, borrow them or make your own, and celebrate spring with crafts, activities and live music.

Highlights include free build-your-own kite workshops with traditions from around the world, hosted by Private Picassos, Magic Mesita, Ixmucane Artisan and Women for Afghan Women; flying lessons from kite pros; a STEM activity on the science of flight; Indian rice-powder art; free kids’ books and face-painting; a Brooklyn Museum activity inspired by designer Iris Van Herpen, giant bubbles and more.

The Kite Festival takes place on Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pier 5 soccer fields; guests are encouraged to come early, as craft supplies may be limited. More information about schedules and activities can be found on Brooklyn Bridge Park’s website.
