Eagle-eyed cops caught a teenage murder suspect wanted for a deadly Times Square stabbing on Monday night as he jumped a turnstile at a Brooklyn train station on Wednesday, police sources said.
The suspect, whose identity has been withheld by police due to his age, was spotted by officers from Transit District 34 as he allegedly committed fare evasion at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station at about 8 p.m. on May 6.
After police stopped the teen, they realized that he had been identified as the suspect wanted for allegedly stabbing 39-year-old Leonides Baez of Massachusetts to death in the heart of the Big Apple.
Meanwhile, when police arrested and searched the 17-year-old, they discovered a scalpel in his possession. It is unclear if this is the murder weapon at this point.
The incident occurred in front of 132 West 43rd St., steps away from the Stephen Sondheim Theater, at around 11:32 p.m. on May 4 after an argument.
Officers from the Midtown South Precinct who responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call found Baez with a slash wound to the face and several stab wounds to the torso and back. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teen was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
