According to a preliminary investigation, the fire appeared to start in the rear of the building just before 6:45 a.m. However, firefighters were able to get it under control within the hour.
The person has not yet been identified and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Thursday’s deadly fire comes a day after another person was killed in a grocery store fire in the Bronx and three people were killed in an apartment building fire in Manhattan on Monday.
Massive fires also forced a vacate order at the “Book of Mormon” theater on Monday and destroyed a warehouse in Belleville, New Jersey on Sunday.
