Students from Robert F. Wagner Secondary School for Arts & Technology in Long Island City proudly celebrated the completion of the CASE (Careers as Sports Executives) program, an 8-week initiative in partnership with the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, culminating in a special event at Citi Field.

The CASE program provided students with a unique, hands-on learning experience exploring career pathways within the sports industry. Over the course of eight weeks, students engaged with industry professionals across various sectors, including marketing, media, operations, and performance, gaining real-world insight into careers beyond the classroom.

The program concluded with student presentations at Citi Field, where participants showcased their final projects in a professional setting. Following their presentations, students were honored on the field, receiving diplomas to commemorate their successful completion of the program — a memorable experience that connected their academic efforts to the world of professional sports.

“This program gave our students an opportunity to see what’s possible beyond the classroom,” said Coach Evan Woodhouse of Robert F. Wagner Secondary School for Arts & Technology. “They didn’t just learn about careers in sports — they experienced them firsthand.”

Throughout the program, students developed essential life skills including teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving, while building confidence and expanding their vision for future career opportunities.

The partnership between Wagner High School and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation highlights the impact of connecting education with real-world experiences, particularly in communities where access to such opportunities can be transformative.

For many students, stepping onto the field at Citi Field was more than a celebration — it was a moment of inspiration and a glimpse into their potential futures.
