The Queens Chamber of Commerce and hundreds of business leaders from across the borough traveled to Albany, met with state lawmakers and advocated for the borough’s economic future as part of Queens Day on Tuesday, May 5.
Local entrepreneurs, industry leaders and policymakers came together for this annual daylong event for a powerful show of unity and engagement at the New York State Capitol.
Members of the Queens Chamber of Commerce met with dozens of state senators and assemblymembers, discussing key priorities from the Chamber’s 2026 legislative agenda, including expanding economic opportunities, strengthening the local workforce and making it easier for small businesses to grow and thrive.
“Showing up in Albany and having real conversations with our elected officials is how we move the needle for Queens businesses,” Queens Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Grech said. “We talked about key priorities like bringing new economic opportunities to Queens, supporting our local workforce and making it easier for businesses to grow and succeed. I’m proud of the strong turnout from our business community and grateful to the legislators and their teams for taking the time to listen and engage.”
Queens Day concluded with a “Taste of Queens” reception celebrating the borough’s diversity and cultural vibrancy and featuring over 40 Queens restaurants and 10 cultural organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Met, Hall of Famer Carlos Beltran and New York City Football Club mascot Sky Scraper each made a special appearance at the Taste of Queens. Additionally, hip-hop pioneer and Queens native Ralph McDaniels served as the special guest DJ, helping to bring an iconic Queens soundtrack to the event.

Queens Day in Albany serves as a vital platform that amplifies the voices of the business community in the borough while also highlighting Queens’ energy, talent and diversity that help make it a driving force in the state’s economy.
