A large police presence in Brooklyn Park on Friday night was due to a vehicle crash at Crystal Airport after a car drove through an airport gate, officers said.

Brooklyn Park Police said their officers were informed of the incident around 10:06 p.m., prompting them and other departments to descend on Crystal Airport near 63rd Avenue North and Zane Avenue North.

Police said a vehicle had driven through the airport entrance gate, after which the occupants reportedly ran from it into the airport.

Law enforcement agencies surrounded the area and searched the surrounding neighborhood and the airport for the reported occupants. Brooklyn Park Police said they made one arrest, an adult man who was suspected of driving while under the influence.

No other arrests were announced by the Brooklyn Park Police.
