It was a person at Threads who raised the question of who could be involved if a female version of Expendables was made. I thought a bit and came to the conclusion that it’s a damn fun idea, there are enough lead-heavy actors with a past in action and geek culture to make it a really cozy action fest with plenty of cheesy one-liners and some younger talents that could also fit.
The core team of the first film included six people, so I have now made my own interpretation with six people for the core squad and a villain… as well as three cameos that can appear on the same premises as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke did – listed in alphabetical order so no one will get the idea that they are ranked.
The core team
• Betty Gilpin
• Carrie-Anne Moss
• Charlize Theron
• Michelle Yeoh
• Sigourney Weaver
• Uma Thurman
The villain
• Angelina Jolie
Cameos
• Jamie Lee Curtis
• Linda Hamilton
• Lucy Lawless
Which women had been in your version of female Expendables?
Yes, I know… there are missing names like Gal Gadot, Gina Carano, Lucy Liu, Michelle Rodriguez and Scarlett Johansson. But it’s Expendables – so of course there will be sequels.
