A 23-year-old home health aide has been arrested for allegedly stabbing an 84-year-old Long Island woman in the elderly woman’s home and running off, authorities said Thursday.
Investigators say Amanda Fraser, of Queens, was working as an overnight health aide for the victim. At some point, they allege that she stabbed the victim in the chest in the Massapequa home.
Officials did not speculate on a potential motive.
Someone called 911 for a well check around 8 a.m,. and the 84-year-old was discovered with a puncture wound to her chest, police said. She was taken to a hospital and last said to be in critical condition.
Fraser is being charged with attempted murder, officials said. She’ll be arraigned when medically practical, they added. Information on a possible attorney for Frasier wasn’t immediately available Thursday.
The stabbing forced some nearby schools to initiate a 90-minute lockout Wednesday as a precaution.
