BROOKLYN — Route 6 was closed in both directions on Sunday afternoon after a crash involving a motorcycle caused serious injuries, police say.

Connecticut State Police said troopers from Troop D were called to Route 6 in Brooklyn at 2:14 p.m. for a report of a crash between a car and a motorcycle.

Police said life-threatening injuries were reported at the scene and one person was transported to a hospital by a Life Star medical helicopter.

Route 6 is closed “for the foreseeable future,” police said, noting drivers should avoid the area. They said the accident reconstruction team was on its way to the scene as of 3:20 p.m.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Route 6 is closed in the area of Brickyard Road.
