1. Knicks finish off second-round sweep of 76ers with 144-114 Game 4 win
The New York Knicks are headed back to the Eastern Conference finals after a dominant 144-114 win over the Philadelphia 76ers completed a second-round sweep.
The Knicks totaled 18 3s in the first half to score 54 points off the long ball, compared to 57 total for the 76ers. Overall, that was an 81-57 lead and helped power the Knicks toward their first best-of-seven series sweep since the 1999 East semis against Atlanta.
2. Mamdani orders investigation after deadly subway shove
A 76-year-old man died after police say he was pushed down the stairs at a Chelsea subway station Thursday night by a man who had been released from a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital earlier in the day.
Police said Ross Falcone was pushed down the stairs by 32-year-old Rahmell Burke. Falcone died several hours later at a hospital.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he has directed NYC Health + Hospitals to investigate the incident and review their psychiatric evaluation and discharge protocols.
3. Potential LIRR strike looms next weekend
Possible service disruptions to the Long Island Rail Road could be on the horizon.
Negotiations are still pending between LIRR workers’ unions and the MTA as they try to reach a deal and avoid a strike by next Saturday, May 16.
