1. Mamdani has 16-point lead over Cuomo in mayoral race, according to Marist poll

Zohran Mamdani has a 16-point lead over Andrew Cuomo in the New York City mayoral race ahead of Election Day, according to a new poll from ‌Marist University.

The poll, which was released early Thursday, shows Mamdani, who is the Democratic nominee, with 48% among likely city voters — including those who are undecided but leading towards a candidate. Cuomo, who is running on the independent Fight and Deliver Party line, received 32%, while Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa received 16%. Three percent of voters are undecided.

2. City Council approves rezoning plan to add 12,000 homes in Jamaica, Queens

The City Council voted to pass a rezoning plan for Jamaica, Queens, on Wednesday, clearing what may be the final hurdle for a major transformation of around 230 blocks in the multicultural neighborhood.

While there are concerns about gentrification and rent increases pricing people out of the neighborhood, supporters of the plan say it’s a game changer because it will create affordable housing and better jobs.

3. City agency admits it has 40 boxes of 9/11 air quality documents after long-denying existence

For more than a year, New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection claimed it had no documents related to an extensive request for files about its investigation into the air quality in Lower Manhattan after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Last month, the agency did an about-face after calling the request a “fishing expedition” — admitting that it did find potentially relevant documents.
