BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — An overnight car meetup led to multiple summonses and several people taken into custody early Sunday, police said.
Officers said they responded around 2:30 a.m. to Pickney Avenue and 233rd Street in the Bronx, where they activated their sirens and ordered drivers to disperse.
No additional details were released.
The incident follows a car meetup last month in Queens, where officers broke up a gathering near 127th Street and Willets Point Boulevard, confiscating four vehicles and seizing 12 more for investigation, according to Council Member Phil Wong.
The NYPD has since announced a crackdown on illegal car meetups after arresting eight people, seizing 20 cars and issuing 101 summonses at nine gatherings citywide last month.
