MENTZ, N.Y. — A 35-year-old man from Lyons has died following a crash involving two motorcycles and a car in Cayuga County.

State Police say the driver of the car failed to see two motorcycles heading west on State Route 31 after stopping at a stop sign at the intersection with Brutus Mentz Townline Road. They say both motorcycles hit the side of the car.

Both motorcyclists were airlifted to Upstate University Hospital with serious injuries. One of them, Branden Paradise, died at the hospital. The other motorcyclist, 36 year old Matthew Hockenbruckner, also from Lyons, remains hospitalized.

The driver was brought to Auburn Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with investigators.

According to State Police, there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
