NEW YORK (PIX11) — Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal fire in the Bronx that left three people dead, authorities said.
Daniel Santana, of the Bronx, was taken into custody at 9:13 p.m. Monday, according to the NYPD.
He is charged with three counts of murder and arson, police said.
The Mott Haven fire broke out last Wednesday morning in a mixed‑use building that included a grocery store on the first floor. Officials said the flames spread quickly to the apartments above.
The bodies were found on different days during separate firefighter operations, according to officials.
The first victim was discovered on the day the fire broke out. Firefighters found a second, unidentified person on Thursday. A third victim was located Friday during a controlled demolition of the building.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
No further information was immediately available.
