The NYPD released surveillance images Wednesday of three men wanted for a Bronx nightclub shooting that left one man dead and another wounded.
Cops are asking the public’s help identifying and tracking down the suspects in the March 14 shooting inside G&S Restaurant and Lounge on White Plains Road near Nereid Ave. in Wakefield.
Nightclub patrons were sent scrambling when shots were fired inside the nightspot about 4:50 a.m., cops said.
A 28-year-old man, identified Wednesday as Marlando Hall, died of a gunshot wound to the chest after he fled the shooting scene and showed up at Montefiore Medical Center on his own seeking help. The victim lived in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx, according to cops.
Medics rushed a 38-year-old man from the club to St. Barnabas Hospital. He was treated for gunshot wounds to his chest, left arm and left leg and later released.
The gunman was targeting one of the two men while the other was an innocent bystander hit by a stray bullet, a police source said. It wasn’t immediately clear Wednesday which was the intended target.
The two victims did not know each other, the source said.
Cops took a person of interest into custody at the scene but released him after determining he wasn’t involved in the shooting.
G&S is a Jamaican and Caribbean restaurant that hosts a “Keep Up Fridays” event every week with music and DJs. The nightspot was also having a “Night Called Reckless” event when the shooting broke out, according to the restaurant’s Instagram page.
Following the shooting, restaurant owners said they were “deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred.”
“We sincerely apologize to everyone in the community,” restaurant owners said on Instagram. “We have taken preventative measures to ensure that this tragedy does not occur again.”
One suspect was wearing a gray jacket, black shirt, light-colored jeans and black sneakers. The second was wearing a black shirt, black pants and white sneakers and the third was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.
At the time of the killing, there had been at least five shootings inside city nightclubs and lounges in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens that left eight people wounded and two dead. A sixth incident left a man stabbed.
As of Sunday, homicides in the city have dropped by 26%, from 113 by this time last year to 83 so far this year. The number of shootings has also dropped, by 9%, from 227 incidents at this point last year to 206 this year.
