Ahead of next week’s big school budget vote, the North Syracuse district allowed residents Tuesday night to give their feedback on its proposed spending plan for the final time.
District leaders have proposed cutting 12 positions. With that also comes a tax levy increase of 5.2%.
But the lack of a final state budget in Albany has made this year’s process even more complicated.
“Not having a finalized budget really does put a lot of stress on our system, because we have to make decisions and we don’t know what our income is gonna be,” said Associate Superintendent for Business Services Donald F.X. Keegan.
The annual school budget vote is May 19. Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
