(WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is learning the man killed in a New York City (NYC) subway attack had roots here in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Officials confirm to 28/22 News that 76-year-old Ross Falzone was from Jessup.

NYC police say Falzone was shoved down a subway entrance stairway in Chelsea last Thursday.

Falzone was taken to the hospital with serious head and spine injuries and later died.

Police say the man charged with his murder had been taken to that same hospital for a psychiatric evaluation hours before the attack, then released.

NYC officials have now ordered a review of how that evaluation was handled.
