BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — The NYPD is launching an investigation after a body was discovered floating off a pier in Brooklyn on Friday morning.
Police received a 911 call for a floater on the East River at around 8:24 a.m. near Pier 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Responding officers located an unresponsive man in the water approximately 30 feet from the pier, police say. EMS declared the man dead on the scene.
It is unknown whether there is any criminality, police say.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of the man’s death.
