The New York Yankees and the New York Mets will clash in a couple of primetime broadcasts this weekend as part of Rivalry Weekend in MLB.
The beginning of the 2026 Subway Series is a tale of two teams going in different directions. The New York Yankees are just two games out of first place, eyeing an end to the longest World Series drought in franchise history. The New York Mets, on the other hand, are undoubtedly the biggest disappointment in Major League Baseball, on the verge of selling off their 2026 dreams.
The Yankees and Mets will meet at Citi Field in the Queens neighborhood this weekend for three games. On Friday, the game will broadcast on Apple TV (subscription required), beginning at 7:15 PM Eastern time. To begin the series, there’s quite a pitchers’ duel lined up. Cam Schlittler and his 1.35 earned run average will take on Clay Holmes and his 1.86 ERA. The Mets may be down, but it has nothing to do with what Holmes is doing this year.
On Saturday, the game will broadcast nationally on FOX at 7:15 PM Eastern time. It can also be found on the FOX One app. Consumers with a cable provider can log in to the app with their provider credentials, or a subscription can be purchased through FOX One. Carlos Rodon will go for the Yankees; the Mets have not announced a starter.
The game on Sunday will be on the normal affiliate channels. The Yankees’ home broadcast will be on the YES Network; the Mets’ will be on SNY. It will feature Ryan Weathers against Freddy Peralta, beginning at 1:40 PM Eastern time.
The two teams will clash again in September at Yankee Stadium. While the Yankees should be on their contention path then, there’s no telling where the Mets will be.
