BOULDER, Mont. — Personal bests, meet records, and top team performances highlighted the District 5B track & field meet at Jefferson High School in Boulder on Friday.
It proved to be a productive day for the Manhattan boys, who claimed the district title with 150 team points.
That included junior Brayden Zikmund, who recorded top times in the 100- (11.07 seconds) and 200-meter dash (22.88), with teammate Marshall Friese taking second and third in those events, respectively.
Shot put star Brady Toner established a new personal best in his event of choice, landing a 53-foot, 8-inch toss to beat his previous top mark by nearly half a foot. Both distances would have been worthy of gold at the 2025 Class B state track meet.
On the girls’ side, Jefferson dominated the district meet with 234 team points, more than doubling second-place Townsend (99 points).
The Panther girls netted eight first-place finishes, including a time of 49.72 seconds in the 4×100 relay, a meet record and season best.
Junior Mckinleigh Doherty had a hand in three gold medals, serving as the anchor of that as relay, as well as the winner in the 100-meter dash (12.69 seconds) and high jump (5 feet, 4 inches).
Doherty also has the top leap in the Class B long jump this season at 18 feet, 9 3/4 inches, though she had to settle for second (17 feet, 11 1/2 inches) on Friday behind two-time state defending champion Kaitlyn Noyes of Townsend, who won the event with a season-best jump of 18 feet, 4 1/4 inches. That mark would top her state record of 18 feet, 1/2 inch established in 2024.
