NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — New York City’s $124.7 billion budget has been finalized by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who now enters the final negotiation with the City Council.

City Council Finance Committee Chair Linda Lee joins PIX on Politics to discuss the proposal and what the council is still looking for.

Lee said the council is still looking for more funding for things like libraries and parks.

Lee also clarified changes to the city’s pension payments, saying any restructuring will not impact the funds retirees take in, and instead will change the timeline over which money is added.

Overall, Lee said the mayor incorporated many of the Council’s ideas into his proposal.
