EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A man died after he was pulled from a flooded basement in Brooklyn as New York City was hit with a historic storm, according to the NYPD.
A call came in for a reported person trapped in a flooded basement at 564 Kingston Ave. in East Flatbush at 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, officials said.
An FDNY rescue dive team entered the basement, searched and removed a man, 39, from the flood, according to the FDNY and NYPD.
The person was taken to a nearby hospital by FDNY EMS where he was later pronounced dead by hospital staff, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing.
There was flooding all over New York City on Thursday due to the hard-hitting storm.
