STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — All the KPop Demon Hunters, many M3GANs, likely Labubus and assorted Art the Clowns, are going to want to bundle up and hold onto their candy bags tightly this Halloween, as gusty winds are expected to follow Wednesday’s flooding rains.

The rain that soaked the borough Wednesday should be ending by Halloween, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Rich Otto.

“The good news is that all the rain that you guys had gotten earlier today and maybe a little bit more this evening should be coming to an end,” Otto said. “But it’s going to remain windy.”

Halloween will feature “mostly dry” conditions with “some sun and clouds,” he said. High temperatures will reach the mid-50s before dropping to the mid-40s overnight.

Wind will be the main weather factor for Friday’s festivities, with sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts reaching 40 to 45 mph.

“You definitely want to hold on to that candy because it’s going to be windy,” Otto advised.

The challenging weather stems from a combination of systems affecting the region. Otto explained that a “strong coastal low that’s partially related to Hurricane Melissa out in the Atlantic” combined with “a strong upper-level system moving through the northeastern U.S.” is creating a deepening area of low pressure.

This weather pattern is developing “a tight pressure gradient” that’s generating the gusty conditions, according to Otto.

The Halloween forecast comes after parts of Staten Island experienced significant flooding Wednesday, with several vehicles becoming stuck in high water.

While a “quick round” of rain could still pass through Wednesday evening, Otto noted that “the heaviest rain looks like it’s over with.”
