BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — This seems to be “The Year of the Skeletons” in Brooklyn Heights, with homes all over the neighborhood covered with bone people sitting on stoops and climbing up the ironwork. (Could they be former residents trying to relive their glory days?)
While Garden Place in the south Heights is famous for its over-the-top decorations and trick-or-treat mob scene, households in the north Heights have ramped up their Halloween activity this year as well. Ranking second behind the skeleton displays are the cavalcades of pumpkins cascading down brownstone stoops.

Intensifying the decorative effort this year was the Brooklyn Heights Association’s Spooky Stoop contest. On Halloween day, the organization will be awarding winners in the following categories: Spookiest, Best Kid-Friendly, Chic-est, Most Creative and Best Classic Halloween.
“Every year has gotten a little more exciting because people keep moving in with their kids,” Kathy Kermian-Leicht, a ten-year Brooklyn Heights resident, told BHA Gov. Laura Trevelyan and cinematographer Stephen Greaves in a video (posted on Instagram) about the neighborhood’s Halloween decorations.
