STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 24-year-old woman was struck by gunfire in West Brighton Friday evening, according to police.

An NYPD spokesperson said the woman was shot once in the left arm in the vicinity of 780 Henderson Ave. at around 5:58 p.m.

The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton and is in stable condition, the spokesperson told the Advance/SILive.com.

No arrests had been made in the case at the time of publication, according to the NYPD.

The investigation remains ongoing.

A crime scene extending several blocks down Broadway was established after the shooting.

Blood was visibly seen on the sidewalk in front of PS 18 on Broadway.
