BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A woman was stabbed to death in Brooklyn Sunday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call at around 8:45 a.m. Sunday in the area of Cooper Street and Irving Avenue in Bushwick for a reported assault, police said.

A 41-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds throughout her body, according to the NYPD.

She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Police said a person of interest was taken into custody at the scene and officers recovered a knife.

The incident is still being investigated. It was unknown as to what led to the attack or if the victim was known to the person of interest.
