The Christ the King High School community hosted a blood drive in partnership with the New York Blood Center on Wednesday, May 13, at Christ the King High School in Middle Village. The local initiative brought together eligible students, teachers, and administrators from Christ the King High School, Middle Village Preparatory, and Christ the King Daycare to donate blood, embodying the spirit of generosity and community support.
The New York Blood Center, one of the largest nonprofit community-based blood banks in the United States, successfully collected much-needed donations. According to a press release, more than 100 pints of blood were collected over the course of the day, with “the potential to save up to 339 lives.” The event further showcased the community’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.
“At Christ the King High School, we not only educate our students academically but also strive to instill a strong sense of moral values and civic responsibility,” said Principal Joseph Arbitello in a statement. “I am especially proud of the students who took time out of their busy schedules to donate blood. Their selfless actions set an example for others, demonstrating that together, we can make a significant difference in our community.”
“I would like to extend a special thank you to our Director of Facilities, Bob Lambert, who has been with the CK Community for over 30 years and played a pivotal role in organizing this important event,” concluded Arbitello.

The substantial response to Wednesday’s blood drive underscores the importance of collective support for essential health services.
