BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A prisoner escaped from police custody near a Brooklyn courthouse on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The 21-year-old man ran off while officers were escorting him from the vehicle into Brooklyn Criminal Court at 120 Schermerhorn St. at around 1:15 p.m., according to the NYPD.
The suspect was being transported from the 73rd Precinct, but it was unclear what he had been arrested for, police said.
Police could not say if the man was handcuffed when he escaped. No other details were immediately available.
The search is ongoing.
