ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – New York libraries are now offering free birding gear to help people learn how to bird watch.
The iBird NY program helps budding birders learn how to bird watch. At public libraries across the Empire State, people will be able to pick up a backpack with binoculars and a bird guide for free.
“Libraries are increasingly recognized as key players of environmental conservation, combining their role as community hubs with active sustainability and education initiatives,” said Laura DiBetta with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. “This is going to make an already enjoyable activity even more fun, accessible, and affordable.”
